Instructional Design Project

The following are a few steps from the ADDIE process used to design a course in teaching learners how to create a blog post using WordPress. Before developing the course, a summative survey was sent to each student to gain insight into their knowledge and skill set.

Once the results were collected and analyzed, I met with a subject matter expert and started designing and developing the course.

My Role
Instructional  Designer

Purpose: Students can use this manual as a how-to guide in “Creating a Blog Post in WordPress.” To ensure the manual’s efficacy, I enlisted the assistance of a subject matter expert (SME). The SME is a pre-college advisor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has two Master’s degrees, and is a blogger.

Training /Webinar

Below are some screenshots from the slides used in a webinar called “Train The Trainer”. The training provided instructors with various activities that could be implemented in synchronous and asynchronous settings.

My Role
Designer, Facilitator

Year:
2020

Project Attributes:
Webinar – Zoom
PowerPoint

Purpose
During the peak of COVID19, many educational institutions were forced to convert their in-person courses to an online platform. Some instructors found this problematic because they had never taught in an online setting. Furthermore, they were unaware of the various activities that could be delivered in an online environment.

To assist instructors and reduce the impact of the new learning platform, we created a
45-minute webinar called “Train the Trainer.” The training included activities and lesson plans that could be used in synchronous and asynchronous settings.
